BiographySr. Saiful Nizam, a Member of Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia and Member of Geo-information Sub-committee of Geomatics Committee of International Oil and Gas Producers (IOGP) A graduate of Surveying (Geo-informatics) from University Teknologi Malaysia. He has been involved in geo-informatics and geomatics related matters in marine and hydrographic surveys since 2001. He expands his experience in oil and gas industry by joining PETRONAS in 2008. Prior to that he is one of the GIS team for a regional oil and gas service contractor. Currently, he is the Geo-information Section Manager, responsible for providing geo-information solution for PETRONAS E&P (Exploration and Production) covering domestic and international operations. Abstract GEOSPATIAL FOR OPERATIONAL OPTIMISATION IN PETRONAS: Geomatics RolePetroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS) was incorporated in year 1974 as a National Oil Company (NOC) of Malaysia, with the main role to promote a sustainable and an orderly development of petroleum industry for the nation. Since then, PETRONAS has grown to be and integrated multinational Oil and Gas Corporation with operation along the hydrocarbon value of chain spanning over 50 countries. Ranked at 5 by FORTUNE Global 500 ranking as the most profitable among oil and gas companies, PETRONAS build its footprint in more than 20 countries (as of 2015) for exploration & production ventures. Thus, creates a very challenging task to manage the operational geospatial dataset in multiple formats and geodetic system. All variances need to be understood, quantify and consequently enable for data integration and made a right decision. This is the key element for company to meet their ultimate objective, to find the hydrocarbon and monetize it. This paper describe how PETRONAS use the commercially available geospatial technology to achieve the objectives through geospatial data and operational optimization, subsequently contribute to the efficient geospatial management to avoid any potential of bad impact the overall operation.
