Public information shared in open formats, accessible and structured could substantially increase transparency and accountability in public policy design and implementation. Besides allowing wider participation of civil society in these processes, promotes improvements in the efficiency of public administration and favours the generation of new services for citizens and new products. Therefore, opening data and the role that society can play in opening processes are key to promoting more effective public administration, strengthen democratic processes and promote the development of an economy of knowledge more equitable. The program is part of a broader effort to expand and produce knowledge about open data and its potential to boost the development of a knowledge society and economy more equal.
