Theme: - a new wave of farming
Geospatial technologies, encompassing other varied integrated technologies in its gamut, have evolved radically in agriculture; extending its arms not only to some routine applications and practices but also in policy making and governance. Geospatial technologies coupled with information technologies are leading their way to a sustainable agricultural industrialisation. This union of technologies acts as a strong pillar in contributing to the world’s economy by empowering agriculture industry to make better decisions, based on smart and intelligent geographic information. Owing to growing demand in agriculture production and to match pace with upcoming new challenges and prospects, it becomes inevitable to create connected, collaborated and embedded geospatial solutions for Agriculture. Our daylong session under the theme - a new wave of farming will discuss the enormous computational power which can be used in agricultural system in a very inexpensive and abundant form. The said power can help infuse geospatial intelligence into agriculture systems and processes that make the whole agriculture practice smart and envision a new wave of farming.

Objectives:
  • To understand current geospatial domain’s path and bring awareness to the agricultural stakeholders on global platform.
  • To bring forward the latest and state-of-the-art IT & Geospatial technologies working for the agriculture sector.
  • To strengthen and connect geospatial communities all over the world with the strategies taken to cater global challenges.
  • To exchange of ideas and sharing of knowledge and skills pertaining to the domain and provide an explicit platform for networking opportunities.
  • Exchange of skills and knowledge on new forms of applications and technology by sharing latest success stories and challenges.
  • Bring together decision makers to discuss and deliberate the sustainable contribution of geospatial intelligence.

Technical Agenda

The daylong session will highlight the following points:
  • Integration of IT & Geospatial technology.
  • Automated farming processes using satellites, sensor technology and advanced precision farming techniques.
  • Challenges aka over-farming, seasonal limitations (dependency on one season of farming) and adverse climatic condition.
  • Climate Smart Agriculture for adaptation, mitigation and development.
  • Learning’s/Take away from early adopters.
Target Audience:
  • Ministries of Agriculture from different countries.
  • Agricultural Research Agencies
  • Multilateral Agencies.
